OUR MISSION
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the Kakapo parrot of New Zealand
NZ Bird Friends are 100% dedicated to the preservation of the very unique and special Kakapo Parrot, found only in New Zealand.
Our ultimate goal is to help the people of New Zealand to facilitate the return of these amazing birds to the mainland where they once roamed free.
We strive to educate the public of New Zealand on these iconic birds and what they mean to New Zealand.
With your help, we can once again hear kakapos 'booming' calls echo across New Zealand's main island as this nocturnal parrot comes out to play!

“The kakapo is a bird out of time. If you look one in its large, round, greeny-brown face, it has a look of serenely innocent incomprehension that makes you want to hug it and tell it that everything will be alright, though you know that it probably will not be.”
Douglas Adams - Author of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
